You hummed to yourself, dancing around to the music. It was a gentle, steady song with just enough beat. It was not even turned up that loud, but you were so entranced that you even didn't hear your friend come in until he cleared his throat.
---------

Kankri knocked once again on the door of ______'s home. He had been waiting outside for about 7 minutes now, but she still hadn't answered. She normally opened the door after the first knock, but not today apparently.  If not for the soft pop music that he could hear coming from her open window, he might have been worried about her safety.

The oldest Vantas sibling sighed as he reached into his pocket and pulled out a key. He didn't like to invade someone's home without permission, but really, 10 minutes was a long enough wait when you had an easy and legal way of getting inside. Besides, Kankri doubted _____ would really mind.

When he stepped inside, he loudly called her name once to make sure he gave fair warning then, when she did not reply, headed up the stairs.

Kankri stopped outside _____'s door, opening his mouth to call her name once more. He paused, though, when he saw her, red eyes widening as a small blush spread across his face.

For once, the chatterbox was speechless.

Her beautiful (e/c) eyes were hidden behind her lashes, a gentle smile playing on light lips. The sun outside cast a gentle golden glow on her skin as she moved, the rays shining on her (h/l)(h/c) locks. Gliding elegantly through her room with no particular pattern, she just moved to the music streaming from the iPod sitting on the bed. She was completely lost in her own wonderland, seemingly unaware of his presence.

Kankri watched her for a few more moments before shaking his head clear, coughing gently.

_____ immediately jumped, spinning around. She relaxed when she saw it was just her sweater-clad friend.
--------

You mentally sighed in relief when you saw it was just Kankri, not someone who would tease you like Meenah, or -- God forbid-- your boyfriend, Cronus.

Quickly pausing you music, you glanced at him, grinning still from the bliss of the music. "Hey Kan! How long have you been there?"

"Just a bit. I'm sorry if I triggered you by appearing so suddenly, as I seemed to have surprised you. I knocked many times and called your name, but you did not seem to hear me, so I used the privileges you granted me and came in with the key. You know, it can be quite rude to not reply when called upon, _____. Keeping your music so loud as well may set someone off..." He faded off as you chuckled.

"Sorry, Kan. I guess I was just a little absorbed. I'll be sure to check my privileges next time."

Kankri softened a bit. "That being said, you are a wonderful dancer, you know." A small smile was almost lost in the folds of the red turtleneck he so shyly pulled over his face.

It was your turn to be embarrassed, "I-I'm really not that good. I just do it for fun."

Humming offhandedly, Kankri moved towards your iPod. "May I see this? Trigger warning: invasion of personal device." He asked, hand hovering above the device.

You raised an eyebrow at his odd behavior. "Yes...?"

"Oh. Thank you." He clicked it on and began scrolling through you music.

You walked over to him, peering over his shoulder and leaning against his back to see what he was doing. "What are you looking for?"

Kankri immedantly became flustered. "Personal space, _______!"

You backed away quickly. "Sorry, forgot!"

He sighed and relaxed. "It's fine. Just please remember to take note of my tags, _____. As to answer your question ...." He set the iPod back on the the bed, full volume. You instantly recognized the song as Roll To Me by Del Ametri: one of your favorites.

Blushing slightly, Kankri offered his hand. "Would you care to dance, ____?"

You took it. "Of course."

Though it was a quick paced song, Kankri hesitantly wrapped his arm around your waist in the manner of a waltz. You decided to go with it.
As he held you close to his chest, as the form required, you smirked micheviously up at him. "What happened to personal space?"

He pouted, his hypocrisy exposed. Still, he tried to cover up. "It's required, of course! You can not possibly waltz properly with your partner two feet away."

You scoffed but decided to roll with it as the song changed. It was not one you recognized immediately, but was much slower than the previous and more suited to your dance. You leaned your head against Kankri's chest as you two began swaying. It was probably a good thing you did, or you would have seen his face was completely red by now.

"We should do this more often. I like dancing with you." You closed you eyes, enjoying the beat of his heart against your ear.

He mumbled something along the lines of a warning under his breath. "Um, ______, I must confe--" he began, but was cut off.

"Hey _____? Are you alright, doll? The door vwas unlocked." The accented voice of Cronus Ampora came from downstairs.
-------

_____ jumped away from me, blushing for the first time, attention rapt on the man downstairs. I felt my heart drop, seeing how much she adored him. "Yeah, Cronus, I'm fine! I'll be down in a moment!"
She frantically combed through her hair, checking her beautiful reflection in the mirror. Turning to me shyly, she asked, "Do I look okay?"

I wanted to tell her that yes, she was the most amazing, perfect thing I'd ever seen. But that would be too much a giveaway. Instead, I forced a smile, nodding. She grinned brightly in return, hugging me tightly and quickly, already forgetting about my personal space issues. Not that I really minded, so long as it was from her.

"Thank you, Kankri!" She called as she pulled on her faded jeans jacket, rushing downstairs. I followed behind slowly, stopping at the banister, glaring down coldly at my violet-eyed 'friend'. I caught a snippet of there conversation as they left, his arm around her shoulders.

"Kankri?" Cronus asked. "Vwhat's he doing here?"

"He came over earlier. We were just dancing." _____ replied cheerfully.

My heart shattered at the way she said 'just dancing'. Like it was nothing. Like it wasn't me trying to admit all my love in a way I thought she would understand. She still could not see my burning feelings for her.

Cronus looked up, meeting my eye. Red held violet for a moment in a silent battle. Cronus frowned, pulling _____ closer to his side possessively. When she asked what was wrong, he simply smirked and said. "Just vwanted to let you knowv I lowve you, doll."

She blushed modestly at that and echoed his statement. Cronus smirked over his shoulder at me in triumph, closing the door behind him.
I stood still in the following silence, my heart broken, glaring at the spot the stupid greaser had just been as if it would magically bring him back and then set his hair on fire.

In the background, </i>Bruised </I> played from the neglected iPod, a song I knew only too well.
